Environment

The ocean is our playground, but it is also our worlds  lifeline. Marine and ocean conservation is extremely important and Corn Island Dive Center wants to help, how about you?  As divers, we must protect the ocean, locally we focus on our beautiful waters of the Corn Islands. It is important to us that our waters stay clean and our marine life stays healthy and abundant.

Overfishing is a large issue worldwide and is contributing to massive declines in many fish populations. On a local scale, there are things we can do to help keep our fish populations around the Corn Islands healthy. Many locals for example will fish for food, however there is a huge difference between surviving and making a living, and fishing for sport. We urge anyone visiting the Corn Islands, if you choose to fish, please do so responsibly and only catch what you can eat, or catch and release. Controlling the amount of fish being taken out of our waters will help keep our fish populations higher and the whole marine ecosystem around the Corn Islands healthier.

“Take only photos, leave only bubbles”. Our staff at Corn Island Dive Center respects our marine life and you should too! We have a strict policy at Corn Island Dive Center that we do not touch, harass, remove, kill, or feed any of the marine life in our waters. Please be cautious of where all your garbage ends up, especially your plastic bags and bottles!

Corn Island Dive Center is a proud and active member of PADI’s Project AWARE. We will be running regular beach and underwater clean-up dives around Corn Island to help clean up our waters.
